Okay, okay we all know that the holidays can get expensive and that some people just love to re-gift those presents that they smiled and said "Oooohh, just what I always wanted....another fruitcake!" Ahem, please keep last years fruitcakes to yourselves..... Anyway that's not the point; the point is that re-gifting is appropriate when done right!
Here are four simple ways to keeps yourselves from embarrassment this Christmas.
First off, make sure that the recipient of your re-gifted item was not the person who gave it to you in the first place! Can we say AWKWARD?!!! Next, try to make it personable by choosing the appropriate item to re-gift for the proper recipient. If you get a box of chocolates please do not re-gift it to your diabetic Grandmother! Thirdly, please at least re-wrap the gift and give it a new tag. How tacky would it be for the recipient to read the original tag that says, "To my honey bunny, from your snuggle bear!" Lastly, and most importantly, DO NOT tell them you re-gifted, some things are better kept to yourself :)
Well, that's my first etiquette lesson. SO what did you think? Please post your funniest re-gifting stories or tips on how to re-gift in the least tackiest way possible!
And Remember folks, Keep it Classy, Not Trashy!
Well, well, well, guess who finally decided to start a blog? Yes, with some recent disturbing trends in tackiness I have noticed these days, I have decided to start a manners and etiquette blog. First off let me say, I am by no means perfect, however, I do think it is appropriate that some people be educated on True Southern Hospitality. I have often been told I am too nice (yes, too nice!) which can be both good and bad IMO. I think that this site can be a fun way to help others and even myself realize when we have been tacky, rude or just plain inappropriate. This site is also meant to help offer tips for special occasions on the proper etiquette of throwing parties, planning events or just day-to-day manner emergencies. Some upcoming blogs will be on topics that occur in my everyday life such as my most recent Christmas Card fiasco and other topics that will include Obnoxious Gifts/Dirty Santa, Tackiest Christmas Decor, and Tipping Etiquette from both the Waitress and Customer's POV. Basically, I am offering my two cents whether you like it or not, thank you very much ;) At least I said thank you, LOL!
The blog is meant to be humorous and yet truthful, so please do not take offense to it.
I hope you enjoy what you read!
